The awkward questions
The questions worth asking before you commit.
How long will you be without your kitchen? What happens if the building work is delayed? Who helps if a fitting fails years later? These are reasonable questions, and understanding the answers is part of deciding whether we are right for your project.

How long will I be without my kitchen or bedroom?
From delivery to initial sign-off, a kitchen installation typically takes around two weeks. Allow around three weeks where hand painting is involved, depending on the site and the work required. A bedroom typically takes around one to one-and-a-half weeks, with the size and finish affecting the programme.
These are guide timings for our installation. Removing existing furniture, preparing the room and any wider building work happen before that and can make the overall period without the room much longer. A kitchen and utility room together, or other multiple-room projects, will need a programme suited to their scope.
For kitchens, worktop templating and fitting are separate stages. Discuss when sinks, appliances and other services will be usable with us and your trades; delivery day does not mean the room is ready to use.
Can I stay at home while you install?
Yes, clients can normally stay at home during our installation if they wish. Others prefer to leave us to get on with the work. The wider building project may affect whether staying is practical.
You will need suitable facilities elsewhere and a clear working area for the fitter. For bedrooms, plan where clothes and belongings will go while the room is cleared and the furniture is being fitted.
Can you help me manage without a kitchen?
We have helped set up makeshift kitchen areas on previous projects. Another approach is to install and get a utility room working before starting the kitchen, giving the client somewhere to prepare food and wash up.
This depends on the property, available services and the builder’s programme. Discuss temporary arrangements with us early so everyone understands what is possible and who will prepare and connect them. They are not automatically included in every installation.
What if the building work runs late?
We stay in contact with the builder as installation approaches, so we can usually identify delays in advance and adjust the programme where possible. Tell us as soon as you become aware of anything that may affect readiness.
We will endeavour to install as soon as we can once the room is ready. If the original slot is no longer possible, the new date depends on our workload and our fitter’s availability. In our experience, rescheduling generally means a delay of around two to three weeks, but this is a guide rather than a guaranteed limit.
If something needs attention
What if something isn’t right when the furniture is finished?
Tell us what you have noticed so we can look at it with you. We check the finished installation and deal with final adjustments and touch-ups before initial sign-off.
We also arrange a follow-up around six weeks after installation. Living with the furniture can reveal a door or fitting that needs fine-tuning as things settle. You can contact us sooner if something needs attention.
What support comes with the furniture and hardware?
If something fails because of our workmanship, or an item has come loose because something we have done needs putting right, contact us so we can assess and address it.
Our runners, hinges and pull-outs come with lifetime hardware warranties. Where a failure is covered by the product’s lifetime warranty, we arrange replacement and cover the labour to fit it. This support applies for the life of the furniture while it remains installed, including for subsequent owners.
Ordinary wear and tear and accidental damage are treated separately. If a fitting is discontinued, we review the available options with you rather than promise an identical replacement.
Does that include worn paint or accidental damage?
No. Normal wear, such as paint rubbing through with use, is different from a fault or a covered hardware failure. Accidental damage, such as a broken door or a chipped worktop, also needs to be considered separately.
Contact us to discuss what has happened. We will assess the repair options and discuss any cost with you.
Does the support continue if the property changes hands?
Yes. We have returned to help second owners of our kitchens and furniture. Our support for covered failures follows the furniture while it remains installed; it is not limited to the original purchaser.
The same distinction between covered failures, ordinary wear and accidental damage still applies. Let us know which furniture and fitting need attention so we can review the issue.
What if the original fitting has been discontinued?
We review this individually. If the manufacturer can no longer supply the same fitting, we need to establish what repair or replacement options are available and suitable for the furniture.
We will discuss those options and any implications with you. We cannot promise in advance that an identical part will always be available.
Who do I contact if an appliance develops a fault?
Appliance warranties depend on the manufacturer and the particular product. For a manufacturer warranty service visit, you will generally contact the manufacturer directly, as they normally need to arrange access and appointments with you.
Please let us know about the problem too. We like to be kept informed, and you can contact us if you are unsure where to start or think the issue relates to the cabinetry or installation. Appliance warranty terms are separate from our lifetime hardware support.
Before you commit
How do I know I will get what I expected?
We develop detailed drawings and an in-depth specification before manufacture. These record the agreed materials, finishes, fittings and details, supported by showroom examples and additional samples where needed.
We also invite you to view your furniture assembled in our workshop before it goes for finishing. You can open doors, try pull-outs and talk through anything you notice. Together, these stages help make the agreed design clear before it arrives at your home.
What if I change my mind after approving the design?
Raise the change with us as soon as possible. What can be altered depends on the request and how far the job has progressed, including whether materials have been ordered or furniture made.
We will review what is practical and explain any effect on cost or timing before proceeding. The workshop viewing is a useful checkpoint, but changes at that stage may still involve additional work.
Why might your quote differ from another company’s?
A useful comparison starts with the specification: dimensions, cabinet construction, detailing, drawers, internal fittings, finishes and installation. For kitchens, the exact appliance models and worktop specification also make a substantial difference.
Our estimates separate joinery including fitting, worktops and appliances where relevant, with a VAT-inclusive overall total. We are happy to explain what our proposal covers so you can decide whether the design and standard of work are right for you.
When might bespoke be the wrong choice?
Bespoke suits clients who value furniture designed and made around their room, with freedom over proportions, storage, materials and detailing. Those choices and the work involved are reflected in the investment.
If standard sizes meet your needs and the lowest initial price is your main priority, a standard or modular range may be more suitable. Discussing your expectations and budget early helps us establish whether our service is the right fit.
We undertake complete bespoke furniture projects. We do not offer standalone door replacements, worktop replacements or kitchen makeover services.
Something else you would like to ask?
Tell us what you are considering and what concerns you. An early conversation about your room, expectations and budget helps us both decide whether we are the right fit.
